Aerial Work Platform Operator Safety Training

Learn how to safely operate, maneuver and maintain aerial work platforms. This course is offered online, in-class and on-site so you can achieve your Aerial Work Platform Operator Safety Certification where and when it's most convenient for you.

This complete training program provides students with the basic principles of aerial work platform operation, load handling, operational maintenance and safety. Training begins with a theory session followed by a half-day, hands-on practical training and a final evaluation. 

All Cervus Equipment courses meet safety standards nationwide. Our training is Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Canadian Safety Association (CSA) compliant. Cervus Equipment Operator Safety Training Centers are located in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer and Fort McMurray, Alberta; Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Winnipeg, Manitoba.   

AERIAL WORK PLATFORM OPERATOR TRAINING OPTIONS

Our online training course consists of a self-directed web-based theory session. The student is allowed a 2-week time frame to complete the web-based theory portion before attending the hands-on practical training. Online training is convenient, cost-effective, self-paced and offers enough time to provide a solid understanding of equipment operator knowledge prior to the hands-on practical training.

Once successfully completed, the hands-on practical training and evaluation session is required. Hands-on practical traiing is a half-day session focusing on the complete understanding of workplace hazard assessment, equipment inspection, and a practical operator evaluation.

The in-class training course consists of a morning classroom session focused on theory. This is followed by an afternoon session for hands-on practical training and ends with an evaluation session on the same day. In-class training course will be facilitated by an instructor for the day.

The classroom theory portion consists of:
  • General and specific legislation applicable to the workplace 
  • Basic principles of equipment operation
  • Main components of the equipment
  • Manufacturers operating manual

Our on-site training has an ‘in-class’ approach with a morning session of classroom theory and a written examination followed by an afternoon session of practical hands-on training.
