Truck drivers played a crucial role in filling the emergency needs for additional ventilators, medication, hospital beds and oxygen tanks. They worked overtime to deliver personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies and hand sanitizers. Drivers delivered COVID-19 vaccines to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and medical centers across the globe. Truck drivers have played a critical role in supplying the medical industry.

While medical professionals, grocery store clerks, restaurant workers and other essential workers have received well-deserved praise during this global crisis, truck drivers are the unsung heroes that keep all these industries running. Not only did truckers continue to operate, but they also had to face new challenges. There were limited accommodation options during lockdowns. Border restrictions presented a new set of hurdles. Isolation requirements kept workers away from their loved ones, many feared bringing the virus home. Drivers continued with resilience to ensure that deliveries were met, despite the adverse conditions.
