Roadside Assistance Keeps Heavy Trucks on the Road

It was a cold, winter night in January as trucker Sheldon Deyell was returning home from his long journey when he noticed his check engine light illuminate. 

Despite the fact that he was two hours from the Brandt Truck & Trailer dealership in Lloydminster, Sheldon knew he could count on the Brandt team to help. He pulled over on the side of the highway and called the store for roadside assistance. 

As an oil hauler in the middle of routes, Sheldon had no time for his truck to be out-of-commission: “I was in a pinch and already at a loss with a couple of trucks down.” 

The Brandt team knew Sheldon couldn’t afford the time to drive back to the dealership and home again to his spare truck. Within minutes, Service Supervisor Lorne Schlosser, Service Manager Steve Parkinson and Sales Representative Ray Foy coordinated a plan to transport the vehicle to the dealership and take Sheldon to his spare heavy duty truck so he could continue to transport oil.

“When our customers’ trucks are down, they’re not making money,” says Steve.

After his four-hour trip to retrieve and transport the vocational truck to the Lloydminster dealership, Lorne got to work quickly. In fact, he got to the root of the problem and brought the rig back to full operation within just a day.

“Our customers are just trying to make a living, and we’re helping them do that,” says Lorne. “We’re happy to help our customers in any way we can, and they’re always very appreciative when we help get them rolling.” 

Thanks to the Lloydminster dealership’s diligent effort and dedication, the customer didn’t miss his next job. Not only did the team identify and service the issue affecting the truck’s engine light, they were able to transport the injured vehicle to the dealership and get the customer home so he could continue to run his business. 

“The team went above and beyond when I was in a pinch,” says Sheldon. “You just don’t get that kind of service anymore. I can’t be thankful enough.”
