Mandatory Update for StarFire Receivers
Mandatory Update for StarFire Receivers
November 19, 2020
Agriculture
As John Deere continues to improve technology for your farm equipment, all StarFire
TM
3000 and StarFire
TM
6000 receivers will require a mandatory update due to government satellite frequency changes. If you do not update your receivers, you will lose signal and connection as of January 1, 2021.
As of February 1, 2021
, the signal for the StarFire iTC receivers will be turning off rendering your iTC unusable. If your receiver is currently the iTC model,
you will need to upgrade to a StarFire
TM
3000 or StarFire
TM
6000 receiver by February 1, 2021
. The iTC receivers will be obsolete and no longer functional at this time.
How to Update Your System
Brandt
has four options to choose from to make sure your system is up-to-date and connected for spring 2021.
Perform the Update Yourself - Free
To get started, you will need to download the appropriate option from the
John Deere Software Update
list. This download will take around 1-hour to complete and needs a strong, uninterrupted internet connection to work correctly. Next, you will need to put the downloaded file onto a USB stick or thumb drive. Please note, you will need to ensure the USB or thumb drive has a minimum of 16 GB to fit the entire file, and the file needs to be formatted to FAT32 in order to work. Once the file is on the USB, you will insert it into your StarFire
TM
hardware. The file transfer may take up to one hour. If you have any issues performing this update on your own, a
Brandt Precision Ag Specialist
can provide a service call to fix any problems.
Use a Preloaded USB - $75
Contact your local Precision Ag Specialist to purchase a USB stick with the update already available. You will still need to update your receiver yourself, which can take up to an hour for the file transfer to complete, but you will have the peace of mind knowing the file is correct and ready to go.
In-Store Updates - $125/receiver
Bring your StarFire
TM
receiver to any Brandt Agriculture dealership, and our team will perform the update for you. Before you leave, they will confirm the install is complete and the receiver is working correctly, so you will be ready to go for the spring season.
On-Farm Updates - $275/receiver
A Brandt Agriculture employee can conveniently come to your farm to complete the install and confirm it is working correctly before leaving.
It is important to ensure your John Deere StarFire
TM
receivers are up-to-date and connecting properly before next season to prevent downtime. Contact your
local Brandt Precision Ag Specialist
for more information or to schedule your update.

Turn This Year’s Data Into Next Year’s Results
Seeding is the most important time of year for you, and there are so many variables to overcome, like seed-to-soil contact, uniform emergence, depth consistency, and—the biggest one—the weather. When it comes to the parts you have control over, there is no room for error.
