WHY DOES A YIELD MAP NEED TO BE CLEANED?

For various reasons, the data coming off a machine can become corrupt and will not represent the field average correctly. The actual yield sensor can 'gum up' with wetter crops and produce bad data if not cleaned. The data recording point is triggered by the header height switch, which can be recording with no grain coming in, again producing bad data if not calibrated correctly. Other factors also contribute to these corrupt maps that make it so we cannot use them in a management decision for next year. WHAT IS YIELD MAP CLEANING?

We use industry-specific software and professional knowledge to apply filters to get the results you expected from your maps. Below, you will see the uncleaned yield map image showing a field average of 29.58 bu/ac. The red in the middle of the field is a sensor 'gumming up' with green canola, which the producer was able to clean and carry on with proper data, but it was too late for this map. With our Yield Map cleaning software, we were able to account for this and apply a filter bringing the field average on the cleaned map to 57.32 bu/ac, which was what the field produced when compared to the scale tickets. Now the producer can use the cleaned map to make reliable decisions for next year based on accurate data.
