Telehandler Operator Safety Training

This course provides students a basic understanding of telehandler operation, maintenance and load handling. It will also cover relevant federal and provincial legislative requirements applicable to the workplace:
  
  • Safety awareness: pinch points, pedestrian awareness, mounting and dismounting, weather conditions and emergency exit procedures

  • Components:  telescopic boom, ROPS and FOPS, switches, levers, boom, outrigger controls and steering options

  • Pre-use inspection: wheels and tires, lighting, mirrors and wipers, engine compartment and function test

  • Operation: stability, use of boom and outriggers, capacity charts, frame leveling, load shifts, overhead power lines, start up and shut down procedures

Brandt Operator Safety Training Centers are located in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer, Alberta; Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

COURSE OPTIONS

ONLINE TRAINING

Students have 2 weeks to complete the self-directed, web-based theory session.  Once completed, a half-day, hands-on practical training session focuses on the complete understanding of workplace hazard assessment, equipment inspection, and a practical operator evaluation.

IN-CLASS TELEHANDLER TRAINING

The in-class training program offers a morning classroom session focused on theory. This is followed by an afternoon session for hands-on practical training and ends with an evaluation session on the same day.

ON-SITE TELEHANDLER TRAINING

For convenience, our certified trainers can train YOUR operators on YOUR equipment at YOUR facility. On-site training begins with a morning session of classroom theory and a written examination followed by an afternoon of practical hands-on training.
