What's included in the Train the Trainer course

Our professional certification for trainers includes a theory portion, a half-day hands-on practical training session, and a final evaluation. After successfully completing all three components, students are given an Operator Equipment Safety Certification. Once the initial day is successfully completed, potential trainers will be provided with additional instruction from a Brandt certified Instructor. This session will focus on reviewing detailed course materials, one-on-one coaching to assist new instructors in delivering engaging training sessions, skills such as facilitation, lesson planning, interpretation of safety, regulatory and technical information, and skills to manage a classroom. Trainers are provided with a complete instructor kit that includes presentation materials, theory and practical tests, answer keys, student workbooks, applicable federal/provincial regulations and adult learning principles.

At the end of the course, trainers will be equipped with the knowledge, skill and instructor material they need to safely train materials handling operators on:

• The functions of the specific types of equipment components and operating controls.
• Pre-use inspection and safe start-up procedures.
• Safety equipment, including overhead guards and warning devices.
• Safe operation, including load handling, travelling, and operating in confined areas.
• How to lift a load and keep the machine stable.
• How to calculate a safe load.
• Emergency response and procedures.
• Safe refuelling and correct battery charging.
• Safe parking, shut down procedures, and storage.
