Skid Steer Training and Rentals For Safe Snow Removal
Skid Steer Training and Rentals For Safe Snow Removal
December 14, 2021
Material Handling
Using a skid steer for snow removal offers power and speed when mobility is needed, such as parking lots, walkways, sidewalks and tight corners. A plow truck’s sheer size can be limiting for certain situations and a compact skid steer is a perfect solution for this. A skid steer acts like a mini excavator with a lower centre of gravity due to its size. The extra maneuverability and variety of attachments that can be used allows the operator to remove snow from tighter spaces safely and efficiently.
Although a skid steer is compact in size, it is still classified as heavy equipment and requires proper skid steer training. There are several incidents that can happen if you're not properly trained to operate a skid steer, including rollovers, vehicle collisions, pedestrian injuries and accidents related to hazardous conditions.
At Brandt Equipment, we offer
Skid Steer Operator Safety Training
to certify operators with the necessary courses, skills, knowledge and practical evaluations. Our Safety Training Centers are located in:
Alberta: Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer
Saskatchewan: Regina and Saskatoon
Manitoba: Winnipeg
On-site training can also be scheduled at your business locations and cities outside of our Safety Training Centers
Skid Steer Operator Safety Training
All of our safety training courses cover relevant federal and provincial legislative requirements applicable to the workplace. Skid steer safety training focuses on handling compact-sized equipment that is equipped with mobility and speed. Skid steers are agile which can lead to serious accidents and injury, even death, when misoperated.
In our training courses, we cover:
Detailed information about rubber tires, rubber tracks, steel tracks and the important differences between them.
Pre-use inspection and work area hazard assessments, including pinch and crush points, entanglement, mounting and dismounting.
Start-up controls, including cold start procedures.
Start-up testing, including control system and warning indicators.
How to operate equipment controls, including the joystick, levers and pedals, turning functions and more.
Forward/reverse travel, how to maneuver around tight spots, traveling on a slope or ramp and navigating railway tracks.
Detailed information on machine stability and capacity,
How to operate the hydraulic arm, including digging, backfilling and back dragging.
Safe shut down procedures, parking, storage and refueling
As a leading heavy equipment dealer in Western Canada, our Service Representatives can help you rent a skid steer upon request. Contact your
local Brandt dealership
for more information on Skid Steer rentals.
