Scissor Lift Rentals and Mobile Elevated Work Platform Training
Scissor Lift Rentals and Mobile Elevated Work Platform Training
November 04, 2021
Material Handling
Scissor lifts are popular for completing manufacturing, industrial and maintenance projects where working at high heights is involved. For this reason, scissor lift operators are often required to take
mobile elevated work platform training
for safety awareness and to minimize accidents.
As a leading heavy equipment dealer in Western Canada, Brandt offers safety training courses along with a large inventory of forklift rentals.
Mobile Elevated Work Platform Safety Training
Scissor lift operators are responsible for completing the job safely and efficiently. Major accidents and serious injuries have occurred in public worksites involving heavy equipment - one of the many reasons safety training is critical before operating a scissor lift or other equipment.
Mobile elevated work platform safety training is a combination of theory and practical application with a basic understanding of maneuvering, maintenance, load handling and operation. The course also covers federal and provincial legislative requirements related to the workplace.
The course can be taken online or in the classroom with an in-person hands-on practical training session and final evaluation. After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Identify safety hazards and risks
Carry out pre-use safety inspections
Perform emergency stop procedures
Perform brake tests
Operate ground and platform controls and functions
Safely operate machinery on slopes
Perform start-up and slow down procedures
Operate all machine functions properly
Handle emergency situations
Common Uses of the Scissor Lift
The distinguishable features of scissor lifts are the crisscrossing X-pattern braces, also known as a pantograph. This allows the equipment to compress and extend to heights as high as 20-50 feet. Lightweight and easy to move, with a large platform that can accommodate both people and materials - scissor lifts are an essential piece of equipment for many job sites across a range of industries.
Scissor lifts are popular for:
Indoor maintenance with high ceilings
Warehouse operations requiring access to tall shelves
Placing signs at elevated heights where a larger platform is needed for tools and accessories
Tight spaces where vertical motion is needed
Window cleaning
Renovation construction
Property management
And many more applications
Scissor lifts are capable of working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with certain models designed to work on uneven and rough terrain.
Why Rent vs Buy A Scissor Lift
For many companies,
renting a forklift
is a more affordable option to purchasing. The initial capital investment can be allocated to other areas of the business, which has a positive impact on the bottom line. Additionally, companies can rent the particular equipment they need for a specific project. There’s no need to acquire additional space, an added expense, to store equipment while not in use.
When you rent from Brandt Material Handling, all maintenance due to normal wear and tear are covered, field service technicians are on-call for support and rentals come with the Brandt Advantage.
The Brandt Advantage
Unlike purchasing equipment, our equipment rentals are backed by a team that can provide on-site maintenance support and an inspection program dedicated to machine uptime. What this means for your operations is less downtime due to equipment malfunction, better efficiency and increased profitability.
The Brandt Advantage provides you with:
On-site service support with over 40 service vehicles ready to dispatch
Fully trained and certified forklift technicians
Emergency support with a large inventory of parts
Remote diagnostic tools to provide quick solutions
On-call service
As part of the Brandt Advantage, you can streamline your operations with our full selection of new and pre-owned equipment, a large parts inventory for quick repair and maintenance when you need it and Operator Safety Training available.
